Men’s monthly British GQ will feature the photography of David Bailey in six special covers for the March issue released on 6 February.
John Lennon, Bob Dylan, Mick Jagger, Michael Caine, Jack Nicholson and Johnny Depp will each appear on the front of the magazine in a promotion that coincides with the opening of Bailey’s Stardust, an exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery.
British GQ editor Dylan Jones said: “He has been one of the very best photographers in the world for over fifty years, and to coincide with his exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery it seemed an obvious thing to celebrate him in GQ in this way.”
Inside the cover Bailey talks about the men in the photographs alongside tributes from Yoko Ono, Jonathan Lethem, Martin Scorsese, John Naughton, Tom Cruise and Bruce Robinson.
Jones added: “We have produced six special covers, but we could easily have produced another fifty. The man is a genius.”
Bailey’s Stardust is a 250-photo exhibition selected by the photographer of notable artists, models and celebrities.
